TMS Editor Structure

The TMS editor has the following structure:

  • The left pane that includes:
    • Task name
    • Task file progress
    • Task information.
  • The right pane that includes:
    • Assets area
      • The Translation Memory (TM) search pane
      • The Term Base (TB) search pane
    • Editor Area
      • The Source Language pane
      • The Target Language pane
      • The Concordance search pane
  • The top menus that include the Translation, Edit and Tools menus.
  • The information section at the bottom of the page that displays segments count, total word count and weighted word count.

Translator Role #

The translator performs many actions on the TMS editor to complete the assigned translation tasks successfully.

To translate a file, complete the following steps:

  • From My Tasks page, click a file link under the task assigned to you. The editor is opened in a new tab.
  • Once you insert a cursor in a segment, the similar translation in the TM that is linked to the translation is displayed automatically.
  • Press CTRL+ Enter to confirm the translated segments.
  • You can perform one or more of the following actions during the translation: (Refer to the section TMS Editor Menus for more details)
    1. To add a manual translation, copy segment source to the target by pressing CTRL+ Ins, then overwrite the source with the translated text considering the tags sequence.
    1. To clear target, press CTRL+ Del.
    1. To insert a term of the term base, click on it in the term base pane or press CTRL+ Shift +Up and then select this term.
    1. To insert a special character, click the button << >> or press CTRL+ Shift + C and select the character of the displayed list. 
  • To add a comment, press CTRL+ Alt + M.

Note:

You can select a certain text to add a comment on it.

To view a comment, click the Comments link on the top navigation menu. The comment(s) will be displayed in the main panel to be deleted after resolving the related issue(s).

To submit your translation, click the Submit Changes button

The file is moved to the next phase and no more edits are allowed to be added to it. The submitted segments are highlighted in green. 

Note:

Only confirmed segments can be submitted.

Main Panel Menu #

The main panel is located at the top of the TM page and it consists of seven buttons.

TM Search: When the translator selects a segment the translation result is displayed in this panel.

Concordance: You can perform this type of search by two ways. Type the word you need to search for in the search field and click search or highlight the word and press F3.

It performs a search in the TM for the selected word and display all its matches results.

Messages: If you have any error messages, they can be displayed here in the messages view.

You can filter the messages by error type. Through the following filtering drop down list.

The current messages are displayed by default. You can view all the messages by selecting the All option from the filtering options drop down list.

To ignore an error, click the (i) icon in front of the error that you need to ignore. A pop-up window is displayed through which you can view the error details and ignore it.

You can ignore all the errors by selecting all of them and click the Ignore button .

After ignoring the errors, you still have an option to restore them or just show them using the displayed options in the screen shot below.

Comments: If you have any comments, they are displayed here in the comments view.

You can filter the listed comments using the filtering drop down list where different filtering options are displayed.

Track Changes: It displays the changes that take place on the segments across the three phases as illustrated in the following screen shot.

Failed Requests: It displays the server errors as illustrated in the following screen shot.
